Cseke Attila – « Citizen of honor »
The Minister of Development, Public Works and Administration, Cseke Attila, received, on Sunday, during a festive meeting, the title of ‘Citizen of Honor’ of Târgu Jiu.
The distinction was conferred on the decisive role in the development of Târgu Jiu municipality, especially the central area and the objectives with a special patrimonial and architectural value, by supporting some investment projects and enhancing the area related to the monumental ensemble ‘Calea Eroilor’, as well as the rehabilitation of some institutions, according to the educational act.
‘I am honored by this title, it was a total surprise when the mayor called me (…) Usually, I am used, through the status I have, to offer diplomas to others and I see the emotion of the one who is always congratulated and now the roles have been reversed and I am just as excited, because a title of this kind is forced. And I can tell you that from this point of view, I have no way to change. (…) If I did what was to be done, I did what I thought it had to be done and I think that the role of man who is in public life is: first of all to be directly and open and honest, to say things by name, when you can help, help; When you cannot help, you have to say honestly that I have no methods, I have no procedures, I have no context, I have no budget to help. (…) I will do the same as I did before this title, it is our obligation to help, to develop this country, to bring prosperity, « said Cseke Attila after receiving the title of ‘Honorary Citizen’ of Târgu Jiu.
They also received the title of ‘Citizen of Honor’ of the Municipality of Târgu Jiu the president of the Academy of Medical Sciences in Romania, prof. Univ. dr. Mircea Beuran, and television presenter Cătălin Măruță.
‘In this festive meeting we do nothing but recognize some of the ambassadors of good, from the models of excellence in various fields, those who have contributed in the past years and I am sure they will contribute to the future of Târgu Jiu and to the good of citizens. It is a festive moment and determined by the fact that during this period we celebrate the Târgujian municipality and we always bring in front of the Târgujians the most important personalities who gave us the necessary new support, as a local public administration. Every year we tried to identify these personalities based on the contribution for the development of the municipality and for the support given to the citizens without considering the political connotations’, said the mayor of Târgu Jiu, Marcel Romanescu.
The festive meeting, which took place during the events organized by the days of Târgu Jiu, took place at the Dramatic Theater ‘Elvira Godeanu’.
