Croatian Railways due to works temporarily abolishes part of the lines: here’s what the relations are discussed
From Friday, April 25, at 8.20am until Sunday, April 27, 2025. There will be significant disorders in railway traffic due to work on two large rail projects: the reconstruction of the existing and the construction of another track on Dugo Selo – Križevci – Koprivnica – the state border with Hungary. Due to the works, there will be a temporary suspension of complete rail traffic through the Dugo Selo Station.
During this period, buses will run instead of the trains, and part of the trains will be canceled on the relations from Zagreb Main Station to Sesvete, Dugo Selo, Koprivnica, Novska, Osijek, Pozega, Ban’s Jaruga and Savski Marof in both directions. More information on special traffic regulation can be found on the web pages of HZ infrastructure and HZ passenger transport and in stations and stops.
The city-trains will drive to/from the Sesvete station, and between the Sesvete station and Dugo Selo will drive the so-called. Circular buses.
Also, from April 25 to April 27, passengers with HZ Passenger Transport Maps will be able to use the buses and trams of ZET as alternative transportation, and passengers with ZET map trains of HZ Passenger Transport.
A special regulation of rail traffic on the Križevci – Koprivnica section began as early as April 22 and will last until April 30 (the details for the passengers are at the link), and from 25 to 27 April will be folded with a special regulation of rail traffic on Dugo Selo – Vrbovec section.
Due to a special traffic organization, there are more delays for which we apologize to the passengers and we ask them for patience and understanding, the HZ said.
Between Križevci and Koprivnica, works will be performed to divert traffic to the left track between the Križevci and Lepavina Station, works on the contact network and the crossword puzzles at the Križevci station and at the junction of Vojakovacki Kloštar. Between Dugo Selo and Vrbovec there are switches and omissions and will be operated on the contact network.
Upon completion of both projects, together worth more than half a billion euros co-financed by EU funds, a railway from Dugo Selo to the Hungarian border will become a two-year and trained for speeds up to 160 km/h. The completion of all the works on both projects is expected in 2026.
