Criticism of media in small pro-Israel demonstration in Amsterdam, some arrests
The Amsterdam police to keep the peace on Monday evening made some arrests at a pro-Israel manifestation on Dam Square. The manifestation ‘Enough is Enough – Stop the Hate’, who attracted about two hundred people, initially went quietly. When a smoke bomb with green smoke was set in the audience, skirmishes were created and the police dismissed a few people.
Four eyewitnesses tell NRC That the smoke bomb was set off by two Pro-Palestinian campaigners. They would have acted as pro-Israel supporters, among other things by hanging an Israeli flag. One of those who NRC saw the police were taken away, had painted an Israeli flag over the entire face.
The manifestation was organized by the organization Time to Stand for Israel from Zoetermeer and aim to stop « hatred against Israel ». « Toon solidarity with Jewish and Israeli students, scientists and citizens, » said the announcement. « Get up against anti -Semitism, boycots and hatred. »
‘Unilateral reporting’
Among the various speakers there was a lot of criticism of the unilateral reporting from Dutch media about the Gaza war. Speaker Sasha Jacobs criticized the NOS by describing the correspondent Israel and Palestinian territories of the broadcaster as « Nasrah Habiblablablah ». Her last name is Habiballah. Sabine Sterk, chairman of the Time to Stand Up For Israel Foundation, Kapitteld NRC several times. This is partly due to the head ‘The situation in Gaza shows many characteristics of a genocide’, who adorned an editorial commentary in November 2024.
“ »Excuse me? « , Sterk said. » Does the NRC not know why Israel Gaza attacks? It is a fight against terrorists, not against an ethnic group. » In Gaza, more than 51,000 Palestinians were killed in constant Israeli attacks, including 15,000 children.
In addition to Jews, Christians also came to the manifestation who wanted to show their support « to Israel and the Jewish people ». Jay (30), who does not want to be called his last name, has turned an Israeli flag. He says he has many Jewish friends and « is very worried about anti -Semitism in the Netherlands. » A parcel deliverer is said to have recently pulled the mezuza off the door with a friend.
The tree -length Amsterdammer Sander (45), who also wants to be called his first name and also carries an Israeli flag around his shoulders, wants to show his support to Israel on Dam Support. He believes that the country is « threatened in its right to exist. » He says he regrets innocent victims, but criticizes the « selective » arrangement of pro-Palestinian activists and protesters at universities. « Where were they then killed in Yemen hundred thousand Muslims? And why don’t you hear them about China where hundreds of thousands of Muslims are in labor camps? »

UN directors, human rights organizations and international judges have been warning or judging for some time that what Israel does in Gaza comes down or could amount to genocide. NRC concludes in the commentary of 28 April that that conclusion can indeed hardly be avoided.
