Criticism of media in small pro-Israel demonstration in Amsterdam, some arrests

The Amsterdam police to keep the peace on Monday evening made some arrests at a pro-Israel manifestation on Dam Square. The manifestation ‘Enough is Enough – Stop the Hate’, who attracted about two hundred people, initially went quietly. When a smoke bomb with green smoke was set in the audience, skirmishes were created and the police dismissed a few people.

Four eyewitnesses tell NRC That the smoke bomb was set off by two Pro-Palestinian campaigners. They would have acted as pro-Israel supporters, among other things by hanging an Israeli flag. One of those who NRC saw the police were taken away, had painted an Israeli flag over the entire face.

The manifestation was organized by the organization Time to Stand for Israel from Zoetermeer and aim to stop « hatred against Israel ». « Toon solidarity with Jewish and Israeli students, scientists and citizens, » said the announcement. « Get up against anti -Semitism, boycots and hatred. »

‘Unilateral reporting’

Among the various speakers there was a lot of criticism of the unilateral reporting from Dutch media about the Gaza war. The tree -length Amsterdammer Sander (45), who also wants to be called his first name and also carries an Israeli flag around his shoulders, wants to show his support to Israel on Dam Support. He believes that the country is « threatened in its right to exist. » He says he regrets innocent victims, but criticizes the « selective » arrangement of pro-Palestinian activists and protesters at universities. « Where were they then killed in Yemen hundred thousand Muslims? And why don’t you hear them about China where hundreds of thousands of Muslims are in labor camps? »
