Criticism of Luc Frieden and Luxembourg makes this satire so snappy
« Aleng Säin Numm Ass Enger declaration. » The Luxembourg writer Guy Helminger thus alludes to Luxembourg’s current prime minister Luc Frieden. Such satirical comments like this run through the new text of Helminger.
« E kuerze monologue iwwer Eng Laang Zäit » is the name of the play, which is currently seen in a staging by Liss Scholtes in the Kasemattentheater. A piece that gives the impression that the current Luxembourg can only be endured with enough white wine.
Luxembourg can only be endured with enough white wine
It is not for nothing that Philippe Thelen sips one white wine after the other in his role as Guy Helminger on stage, while he makes fun of politicians and the (Luxembourg) identity, but also about himself. Here biting humor meets targeted, sharp criticism.
Everyone gets their fat away
These lines can bat with bitter, because they expose the paradoxical way of thinking of the Luxembourg Society. At the same time, as a viewer, you simply cannot help but smile because of such sneering but meaningful comments.
That sounds like this: « Ech Froë Mech, Wou de Cactus Dee Wäin Hei moved? E Wéngert on the tout-à-l’égout, or wat? Mee en ass bëlleg to e wierkt. Leaf. Net.

In his piece, Guy Helminger describes himself as « Ale Grommer » and « Kanéngerchersfécker » – too seriously and personally you should not take any criticism in « e Kuerze monologue Iwwer Eng Laang Zäit ». After all, the Luxembourg writer does not give any good hair here.
Nevertheless: Theater and literature have the function of pointing out grievances in society and politics. And these are currently being discussed in the Kasemattentheater.
