Criminal charges against 10 police officers from the Rapid Deployment Unit for abuse of power and authority
The Department of Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards at the Ministry of Interior, to the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption – Specialized Department for the Prosecution of Criminal offenses committed by people with police powers and prison police. NM, SS, ZT and DT, all employees of the Rapid Deployment Unit, on grounds of suspicion of committing a crime of « abuse of power and authority » punishable under Article 353 of the Criminal Code – MOI said.
Reportedly, with the intention of obtaining illegal property benefits, using the right to compensate for travel expenses, because they were guided by a place of residence outside Skopje, abusing their official position in a way that they received cash from the Ministry of Interior for days and no residence in Skopje, 17.09.2024 damaged the budget of the Ministry of Interior in the total amount of 1,098,120 denars.
The Department of Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards for the reported police officers will also submit a proposal to initiate a procedure for establishing disciplinary liability.
