Crime in Opoczno. The 20-year-old was to set fire to his peer. Waiting for the trial
The tragedy took place on July 12, 2024 in Opoczno (Łódź Voivodeship). According to investigative findings, a 20-year-old man was covered with a flammable substance and then set on fire.

A few days later, the police detained three suspects: two minors aged 13 and 14 and a 19-year-old. The oldest of them initially heard the allegation attempted murder.
Unfortunately, despite the doctors’ efforts, the victim died two weeks later in the Warsaw hospital. Therefore, the prosecutor’s office changed the qualification of the act on murder with particular cruelty.
The indictment against Jakub B. was directed to the District Court in Piotrków Trybunalski. A spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Piotrków Trybunalski, prosecutor Dorota Mrówczyńska, informed about the details.
– The prosecutor accuses the accused with a murder with particular cruelty. This act is punishable by imprisonment for not less than 15 years or a life imprisonment – prosecutor Mrówczyńska said.
Complex who are minors will be responsible on the principles provided for people of their age.
Investigators found that the perpetrators and victim knew only by sight. As reported in July 2024, commissioner Barbara Stępień, spokeswoman for the Poviat Police Headquarters in Opoczno, the group met accidentally and consumed alcohol together. At some point there was a quarrel that turned into brutal attack and setting fire to the victim.
