Crete: Six arrests for antiquity
The Prosecutor of Heraklion will be taken to take 6 people who were identified with more than 40 major archaeological finds and arrested for antiquity4 in Heraklion, one in Rethymnon and one in Chalkida.
As it became known, these are objects that are believed to be of high archaeological value, but the authorities are awaiting their evaluation by the Ephorate of Antiquities.
The case with the archaeologism
The case became known by private investigator George Tsoukalis, who has previously dealt with many serious antiquity cases. The research has brought to light more than 40 findings, many of which are Cycladic docks, everyday objects, and other statues, according to ERT.
In the investigation of the archaeological case, 25 police officers from the Athens Organized Crime, as well as services of Crete, who arrived at the home of one of the arrested in the Atsipades of Monofatsiou, who found the archaeological findings, took place.
Speaking to ERT Heraklion, Mr. Tsoukalis said that he estimates that these were very important findings, while describing the archaeologists as « national bidder ».
Today the six detainees are expected to be referred to the Heraklion Public Prosecutor on charges.
