Creepy cases hang over your head
The music has been the soundtrack to Jamaica’s public life for years, but in the courtrooms another tone sounds.
The 29-year-old rapper, born Sharme Omar Ali, is now facing serious charges in the Copenhagen City Court, where, according to the prosecution, he has threatened a person to act as a driver under threats of violence.

Jamaica should have said the following:
« Drive, or I shoot you, » he should have said, and the prosecutor demands prison sentence.
The case is added to a large number of episodes where the Danish-Somali rapper has been at odds with the law.
In November 2024, he was sentenced to three months unconditional imprisonment and a fine of DKK 14,000 for threats with a kitchen knife against a young woman for a private party in Kolding.
According to the court, the knife had physical contact with the victim and the episode took place while Jamaica was affected. « It was so stupid, I can see now, » he said during the hearing.
Also in March 2024 he ended up in severe legal storms when he threatened two GLS drivers in Aabenraa with a knife. When they refused to drive him, the situation escalated, and according to the driver of the van he was threatened with the words:
« He told me he would make holes in me. » Here, too, he was convicted, this time by the court in Sønderborg for threats, possession of a knife and smaller amounts of hashish and anabolic steroids.
Already in 2021 he was sentenced to a custody sentence for serious violence and threats in connection with an assault in Esbjerg, where he attacked a peers with a knife and subsequently sought out and threatened the victim.
The sentence was later changed to prison. The lawsuits testify to a man whose musical talent is repeatedly overshadowed by a violent court case that seems far from completed.
