Covic says neither unitarianization nor splitting BiH will succeed
HDZ President of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Covic He said on Monday that the processes of unitarisation or the breaking of the country will not succeed in occupying Bosniak and Serbian political elites.
Bosniak politicians insist on strengthening the central institutions of entities and the state and the majority decision -making systems, which would allow the majority Bosniaks to dominate Croats and Serbs. At the same time, the Serb parties seek to strengthen the role of Republika Srpska and make decisions that lead to the secession of the entity from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
« There are very many who want to create a units of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as those who would split it in some way for fear of this unitarism.
The crisis in the country has been escalated for the last week with more radical and offensive views presented by Bosniak and Serbian politicians. The farthest Departure Minister of Defense Zukan Helez (SDP BiH), who said that BiH could rent fighter jets from Turkey to deal with enemies in the territory of BiH, not specifying whom he meant. Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik, however, spoke derogatory about the identity of the Muslim Bosniaks.
Covic pointed out that in BiH, it is most important to preserve peace, implement electoral reforms and accelerate Eurotlantic integration.
He announced that his party would continue to persevere on the amendments to the Election Law to stop the practice of overcoming Croats, which he claims, he has partners in the EUIOPA folk party. Last week, Covic participated in the EPP Congress in Valencia.
« The basis of the functioning of BiH is the constitutionality of the people as an attachment to the constitutional category. It should be consumed to the end and I think that EPP friends understand and support it, » Covic said.
