Court of appeal confirms prison for probation for Gerson Rodrigues

The condemnation of football professional Gerson Rodrigues for multiple assault was confirmed on Wednesday by the Court of Appeal in almost all points. The 29-year-old was again sentenced to a prison sentence of 18 months on probation and has to pay several fines and compensation.

However, the judgment is not yet final – it is possible to obtain an objection in front of the Court of Court. In such a procedure, however, the question of guilt would no longer be decided, but only checked whether the judgment contains formal or legal errors.

Rodrigues, which is currently under contract with the Portuguese first division club AVS from the city of Vila, was already under contracted in the north of the country in the first instance in March 2024. He was accused of beating his then partner, the influencer and former Miss Luxembourg, Emilie Boland, in November 2022.

In two other cases-before night clubs in the station district of Luxembourg-Stadt-he is said to have physically attacked and injured men. According to the indictment, he broke bones on his face, he struck another tooth. He is also said to have insulted and threatened police officers. Civil law claims were also largely confirmed in the appeal hearing. Emilie Boland receives 2,750 euros in compensation.
