The accident happened shortly after 12.30 at the Leugenberg in Ekeren, near the border with Kapellen. « It came to a collision between two cars, » says Wouter Bruyns, spokesperson for the Antwerp police. « A man and a woman, both in the seventy, were seriously injured. They were trapped in their car and had to be freed by the fire brigade. The couple was taken to the hospital. They are not in danger. »
The other driver, a man in the twenties, was also injured and was taken to the hospital. Both cars are no longer driving and must be towed. The circumstances of the accident are still unclear for the time being. Due to the accident, the Leugenberg is blocked, which causes a lot of nuisance.
