« The prevailing perception of the population based on ethnicity and origin is incompatible with the basic free democratic order, » the intelligence service said.
Deputy director of BFV Sinan Selen and Silke Willems pointed out that the party’s statements and attitudes and its leading officials violate the constitutional principle of the inviolability of human dignity. Deputies temporarily lead BFV until the new director appoints the upcoming government.
So far, the BFV has described the AfD as suspected of extremist activity. The party has unsuccessfully challenged it in court.
The AfD finished second in the February parliamentary elections with almost 21 percent of the vote and won 152 seats in the 736-member Federal Assembly.
