Costly demolition for von Eckermann in the World Cup final in jumping
After two settled rounds and a free Saturday, it was time on Sunday to select this year’s winner of the World Cup final in jumping.
Prior to the decision in Basel, France’s Julien Epaillard was in the lead, which had zero errors after the score from the first two rounds was converted to errors.
Behind him, Henrik von Eckermann, who won the final in both 2023 and 2024, and the home run Martin Fuch’s second place with two errors.
But it was even behind them, and nothing was given in advance.
Sunday’s Crucial was divided into two rounds.
For the first, the top 30 were after the two initial rounds qualified. However, only 24 of them chose to start.
The track in the first was challenging, but not quite as decisive as Friday’s.
When Henrik von Eckermann and the mare Iliana entered the track as the second last starting team – it was a reverse start order – nine equipage had passed the course flawlessly.
Among them were riders like Kevin Staut, Lillie Keenan and Ben Maher who were just a mistake behind the Swedish hope.
The home run Martin Fuchs was close to joining them but to the audience’s big disappointment he tore the last obstacle.
In and With Staut, Keenan and Maher’s flawless Ritter, the press was great at Henrik von Eckermann. A impact would mean that they lost investments.
That was also what happened.
Swedish hope tore an obstacle and rolled down to a shared fifth place with six errors.
For the last starting Julien Epaillard passed the press, and was flawless.
Prior to the second round, which starts at 16.30, Henrik von Eckermann is thus more than one demolition from the victory.
