Copenhagen overtakes Vienna as the most livable city: these are the reasons
In the end it was always said in this ranking: « And the Winner is Vienna. » On the much -noticed ranking of the world’s most livable cities, which Economist-Group published annually, the Austrian capital was the winner for three years. A haven of security, education, a big city with excellent health care and an infrastructure that leaves nothing to be desired. This year, however, there was a change in the top position, such as the new ranking of the British EconomistGroup.
Vienna in Economist-Ranking downgraded due to attack plans to Taylor Swift concerts
The Danish Copenhagen Now has the top position, so it is called Wienerbrod instead of Sachertorte, the little mermaid instead of Steffl, Kierkegaard instead of Freud and Tivoli instead of Prater. The trigger for Vienna’s downgrading was a decline in the stability value of Vienna. In 2024 Vienna had received 100 out of 100 possible points, this year there were 95th and the European Taylor Swift fans also painfully in mind, which was the trigger for the return: the stop plans to the three concerts of the superstar in Vienna, which were canceled without replacement. At the beginning of 2025 there were also stop plans to the Vienna train station.
But Vienna does not fall deep, and second place with Zurich. Melbourne follows in fourth place, then come Geneva, Sydney, Osaka, Auckland, Adelaide and Vancouver in the top ten list. What strikes? There are no mega cities with more than ten million inhabitants, Sydney with 5.5 million inhabitants is the largest city. In addition, Australia made it into the top ten with three cities, and Switzerland follows with two. And South America and Africa are completely missing.
