Coop with great news: better than expected
About the explanation for the improvements, says CEO Thor Skov Jørgensen:
« We have launched a plan focusing on our core business to create a profitable coop. That’s why we made some tough but necessary decisions last year. We reduced the number of employees at the head office, we closed our online business, Coop.dk and loss -making stores were closed or sold off. But first and foremost, we focused the company around our four chains; Kvickly as the department store with the large selection of both food and nonfood, SuperBrugsen as a quality supermarket, Brugsen as the local convenience store and our discount chain 365discount. Today we are a smaller but healthier coop. And has realized an increase in the core business.
With the agreement between Coop Amba and OK, we have created peace about the future. New, shorter decision paths have arrived. And we have optimized processes and systems, giving fresher goods, fewer cassations and higher customer satisfaction.
We still have a great job ahead of us in relation to creating a profitable operation, but I am pleased that the spirits have been recreated and that there is such a great will throughout the Coop family for us to succeed – and a desire to exploit our common strength across. Therefore, I would also like to thank all employees, our membership elected, independent utility associations, our suppliers and partners for the great support. The progress is not least due to a huge team effort all around. It’s the joint effort that makes us on the right path, ”says Thor Skov Jørgensen
The good start in relation to the plan means that Coop can now take the next steps that are about a continued – and growing – investment in the customer experience, among other things. in several modernizations of the store network, but also the development of some of Coop’s historical characteristics; Ecology, Änglamark and local Danish goods. With more calm on the economy, there is a surplus to top of this to work more with what is the real purpose of the company. To make a difference by being strongly present locally, by working seriously with accountability, and by being a member -owned company where members get benefits and co -influence.
For 2025, Coop expects continued progress in core operations and a total operating profit that is better than 2024. Coop does not expect a significant sale of properties.
