controversial classes at school. Castration under the magnifier of investigators
The Foundation to the Heart of the PSA published photos in social media that are to document the course of castration made at the Myszków school. They can be seen on how students shave the cat, prepare him for the procedure, and then perform the procedure. According to representatives of the Foundation, such activities are not only unethical, but can also be a form of animal abuse.
Shocking photos and allegations of animal abuse
– Such treatments should absolutely not be performed at school. They can only be carried out in a registered veterinary office, and not in a class not adapted to such operations – says Patrycja Rubin, president of the Foundation to Heart the dog in an interview with « Fakt ». – Animals were operated on a school bench. The school has a veterinary technician (educates veterinary assistants), but he does not conduct veterinary studies. 15- and 16-year-olds performed with the veterinarian surgery is unacceptable. Veterinary technician can only provide tools and not operate. There is no legitimacy for these children to participate in this type of treatments. This veterinarian performs the treatment with students, without any sanitary protection, without gloves, pulls out the guts of the animal. In our opinion, it is animal abuse.
The Foundation consulted this practice with lawyers. – Absolutely a veterinarian should not perform such treatments at school. Such a procedure requires narcotic agents to sleep an animal. Drug drugs cannot go beyond the registered office. Such drugs should be in the safe. It is possible that children had direct access to them – adds Patrycja Rubin. – That’s why we made a notification of a crime.
The vet and school management deny
The veterinarian supervising the procedures strongly denies that there is any negligence. Also the school head, Jerzy Bryś, in an interview with TVP Katowice defends the institutions, emphasizing that all procedures were observed and the classes were held at a clear request of students who brought their own animals to them.
-Ethics of the doctor’s profession allows students participating in such practical and training classes to perform certain activities and procedures for his presence. I think that there was no breaking of law in any way – explained Director Bryś in an interview with TVP Katowice.

Such a crime is punishable by up to 3 years in prison – says prosecutor Tomasz Ozimek, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Częstochowa in an interview with « Fakt ».
– We must question students who participated in the lesson in which dogs and cats were castrated. A doctor who has been conducting these classes is to be questioned. We must determine whether the poviat veterinarian knew about such a procedure. A veterinary expert will also be appointed who will speak in this topic.
At the moment, it is not known what the consequences may be for the school and the people involved in the organization of classes.
