Continues to increase in flu distribution / day
The incidence of influenza continues to increase and the flu virus activity persists high, assesses the SPCC.
Last week, flu was clinically defined in 440 cases, which is 91 cases more than a week in advance, with 349 cases. The morbidity, as in the previous season, is mainly occurring in children under the age of 14.
Last week, the proportion of positive influenza samples has increased to 30%, while a week earlier the proportion of positive samples was 25.4%.
Last week, 133 Type A and 25 B -type influenza viruses are set more than a week in advance when 98 Type A and 16 B -type B viruses were identified.
Seven reports of deaths in patients with confirmed influenza infection have also been received. All patients were over 50, all had several side diseases and risk factors.
On the other hand, 1285 tests were performed for approval of the Covid-19 last week, of which the presence of the virus was confirmed in 33 cases.
Last week, 42 patients with Covid-19 infections were treated in hospital, of which 11 patients were with a basic diagnosis. Last week, one Covid-19 patient's death was recorded.
The SPCC reminds that in order to protect yourself from severe flu, the state -funded vaccination against influenza is currently available to every citizen.
Medical facilities can use the vaccines in their stocks to vaccinate patients outside the risk groups. Vaccination against influenza is still recommended as the flu prevention may continue until the end of May, but immunity after receiving the vaccine develops within ten days.
Vaccination is particularly recommended for seniors and people with chronic illnesses. It is also advisable to vaccinate for those who are planning medical manipulation and inpatient stay.
