The case around the much -discussed fence over the sidewalk in the Bakkerstraat in Haaltert will get a tail at the justice of the peace. The resident concerned said that he wants to start a reconciliation procedure, after no mutual agreement had come out of consultation with the municipality.
At the beginning of this year, the municipality became aware of a remarkable barrier of the sidewalk in the Bakkerstraat. A resident placed a fence without request or approval. The municipality urged the resident to remove the construction.
The resident did not respond to that request, but he suggested the municipal administration to start a conversation. Now, three months later, no agreement has still been reached. City councilor Bart Welleman (N-VA) therefore asked the competent ships Nathalie Meganck (Samen Haaltert) during the past city council to a state of affairs.
« It’s a shame that this has to take so long, » says Meganck. « We did indeed consult and have made a compromise proposal. »
The resident and his lawyer had two weeks to respond to the compromise, but when the municipality had not heard anything after four weeks, she contacted herself. « The resident and his lawyer then made a counter proposal. We did not comment on that, » says the ships.
« It is a pity that the owner does not see that this situation is not possible »

Recently the municipality was informed that the resident wants to start a reconciliation procedure at the justice of the peace. « It is a shame that the owner does not see that this situation is not possible. There is no discussion that it is about his property, but that footpath has been there for years, » Meganck concludes. It is not yet known when the case will be dealt with in the peace court.(BSB)
