Construction of the second phase in Idrizovo prison is expected to begin by the end of the year, Pandov announced
Director of the Sanctions Office Alexander Pandov has announced that he expects to start the construction of the second phase in Idrizovo Prison by the end of the year – a completely new closed department and a new central detention building with a capacity of 420 beds.
Central detention will be completely in Idrizovo Prison instead of as before and in other cities, and as Pandov explained, the courtroom will be put into operation with no costs of conducting suspects, as well as a prison hospital and a new kitchen.
With the end of the second phase, according to Pandov, the image of the prison system will dramatically change, pointing out that about 65 percent of prisoners are now in Idrizovo.
The state, Pandov explained, receives a loan from the Bank for the Development of the Council of Europe in the amount of 50 million euros in 2010, and with half of those funds last VMRO-DPMNE’s government by 2017, builds a completely new prison in Kumanovo, the upbringing home in Volkovia, Tetovo and completes the first phase of the Idri.
– The prison in Kumanovo is 2014, and VPD Volkovia and the open and semi -open department in Idrizovo Prison in 2018. Unfortunately, although they remained 26m euros in their account, the last government of the SDS and DUI did not even have a nail. Additionally because of their corrupt behavior and failure to do no things … The money that is on account, for which we as citizens have paid interest in all this past period, when I came as director of the Sanctions Office were under a moratorium, ie we had no right to use them – said Pandov.
Meanwhile, Pandov said, again we had a visit from a high delegation from the Bank for the Development of the Council of Europe and that he expects the money to be available for the second phase to be available on July 15.
– In that second phase if we were allowed, we should have participated in one third earlier, so the 25 million Republic of Macedonia was needed with about 15 million euros. However, these years there were inflation as there were. The cost of construction has increased and unfortunately estimates are now that the share of the Republic of Macedonia will reach 50 %. I can’t with 100 percent security, but what I have talked about with Mickovski is that Macedonia will do its best to secure that money in the coming years – said Pandov.
Pandov said that they are already making all preparations as the administration to renew the building permit in Idrizovo and when we are approved by the Development Bank, to announce a tender this year.
