Consequences of National Strike Day: forty percent of IC trains and a third of the buses do not run, all departing flights in Charleroi canceled

The National Strike Day of the Christian and Socialist Trade Unions ACV and ABVV will cause a lot of nuisance on Tuesday 29 April. The strike comes out of protest against the government’s policy. An overview of the – currently – expected nuisance.
Trail
Fewer trains will run from Monday 10 p.m. to Tuesday 10 p.m. In the alternative timetable that the NMBS has worked out, six in ten IC trains will run, half of the L- and Opdadelrijke S-trains will run. « There are few P-trains, in the morning and evening rush hour, » reports the NMBS. Bus/tram/metro
De Lijn: On average, a third of buses will not run. On the tram network, the line expects even greater nuisance: more than half of the trams, 57 percent, do not run out. If you have to take a bus or tram off De Lijn on Tuesday, you can already visit the website or in the app in the route planner.

The nuisance will be greatest in Ghent and Antwerp. On the city lines, both buses and trams, only a third of the planned journeys will leave. In Flemish Brabant, only 60 percent of drivers will leave, the same number is expected off the coastal tram. In Limburg, more nuisance is expected in the city centers than on the regional lines.
STIB: « We expect a significant disruption of public transport in Brussels, » says STIB, where they cannot yet estimate the exact size. Updates will be regularly via the app, website and also social media. STIB does encourage travelers to look for alternative solutions for their journeys in Brussels if possible.
Airports
Brussels Airport: « Because of the national trade union action in which some of the service providers for handling and safety participates, we expect a major impact on our airport activities, » Brussels Airport announces. Bpost: On the site Bpost says that packages can be on the road longer due to the strike.
