Star conductor Zubin Mehta has canceled several appearances in the near future. He had to take a break necessary for him, said the Bavarian State Opera and the Munich Philharmonic. At the end of March, the 88-year-old had already dispensed with the conductor with the Berlin Philharmonic, for health reasons, as it was said at the time.
Take over Ivan Repusic and Pablo Heras-Casado
At the Bavarian State Opera, Mehta was supposed to be at Giuseppe Verdi’s opera « Don Carlo » on the desk in May. Now Ivan Repusic, chief conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra, is jumping for him. Mehta regrets his cancellation, but is already looking forward to his return to the State Opera in December, the house said.
The Munich Philharmonic had planned their honorary conductor for concerts on May 21 and 22. This will now take over Pablo Heras-Casado. The Munich Philharmonic gives all concert visitors « for their understanding and are already looking forward to seeing Zubin Mehta again next season ».

Mehta was born in Mumbai Indian in 1936. He learned violin and piano and soon started to conduct. His career led him all over the world.
