« Conchita, are you? » No, it’s Klemen-the man with 1000 ESC faces
How one person can bring all the ESC winners of the millennium to life? This proves Klemen Slakonja, a Slovenian singer, actor and comedian. In an amusing YouTube video, he embodies all ESC winners of the past decades-and that of all people shortly before his own appearance at this year’s competition.
What makes this performance so extraordinary: with astonishing precision, Slakonja slips into the roles of the Heavy Metal Monster of the band Lordi, the glamorous Conchita Wurst, the energetic glam-rock måneskin to the incumbent Swiss profit contribution from Nemo. Every nuance, every gesture is perfect – supported by deceptively real costumes and faithful staging.
« This project is my homage to the Eurovision Song Contest – a celebration of the transformation, music and the wonderful madness, which we look forward to every year, » explains Klemen his heart project. Behind the viral hit, which already inspires millions on YouTube and Tikok, is an impressive creative team of costume designers and make -up artists. Fans even speculate whether this brilliant parody could become one of the highlights of the Eurovision Year.
Particularly touching: The man who exudes so much humor and lightness brings a profound message to the ESC stage with his own competition contribution « How Much Time do we have left together ». The song addresses his wife’s survived cancer – a moving contrast to his comedic talent, which underlines Slakonja’s impressive artistic range.
