Competitor with cryptic Jonas Vingegaard message: « Let them speculate »

According to Geraint Thomas, there is something attractive old -fashioned about the way Jonas Vingegaard’s preparations take place – and it dresses the sport.
« I like it. I like the mystery around him. Today is so much accessible. It’s nice to have some old school, » he explains.

He recognizes that it is an approach that creates speculation, but sees it precisely as a strength that Visma-Lease A Bike is not allowed to control the media or fans’ expectations.
« Let them (fans, media, etc., ed.) Wonder, let them say about us what they want. But we have our plan and we believe it, » says Geraint Thomas.
But praise and respect go longer than the tactical and media. Thomas states that Vingegaard’s presence in the Tour de France is not merely desirable – it is necessary.
With Tadej Pogacar’s impressive dominance earlier in the season, he fears that this year’s tour may lose excitement if Vingegaard does not return in top form.
Geraint Thomas himself is facing his last season as a professional rider and also plans to start the Tour this summer – seven years after his win in 2018.
