Compensated goal at almost 147 million euros by spying from the Pegasus program
The NSO Group, creator of the Pegasus Spy Program, will have to compensate the goal by $ 167 million (147 million euros). The reason is the ‘infection’ of 1,400 WhatsApp mobile phones with the espionage program.
The Pegasus Spyware Program, linked to the Israeli NSO (NIV, Shalev y Omri) company, ‘infected’ 50,000 mobile phones, both iOS and Android, belonging to journalists, activists and politicians. The ‘infection’ was made through malicious « links » that do not require any user action in its installation.
This tool allows those responsible to access the equipment remotely as well as control and obtain personal information from the device owner, having the possibility to control the « smartphone » camera and microphone.
By 2020, the goal accused the NSO group of infecting a US server network to invade hundreds of mobile phones and spy on about 1,400 users through WhatsApp.
Following this allegation, the NSO group was considered guilty last year by the California Federal Court for attacks on these users, so NSO will have to pay the target for damage and damage, about $ 444,719 (almost 391 Mill euros) and $ 167,254 million in punitive damage (about 147 million euros).
