Companies showed their own proposals for the next consolidation package

Savings on the operation of the state and social expenses instead of further taxes. Thus, in short, the proposals of the Republic Union of Employers (RUZ) and the Association of Employers’ Associations and Associations (AZZZ) look for consolidation of public finances.

Companies’ representatives met this week at the Ministry of Finance working on another consolidation package, although without the participation of the head of the department Ladislav Kamenický (Direction).

« They finally listen to us, » he says President Ruz Miroslav Kiraľvarga with an allusion that they did not invite employers last year to create a consolidation package.

« No red lines have been given yet, we were not talking about the political passage of proposals, » adds Kiraľvarga. Ruz quantifies that its proposals will bring the state savings of EUR 6.5 billion, which is more than three times the consolidation required for next year (EUR 1.8 billion).

Pensions are diverging

RZZ sees the greatest potential in « reducing employment and wage expenditure in public administration », which quantifies at EUR two billion. This can be achieved, for example, by releasing five to 25 percent of the Central Administration employees, or by half of the public employees who will retire in the next 10 to 15 years will not be replaced by new ones.

Another option is to freeze wages in public administration for three years. According to RUZ, it is « desirable because the public sector is starting to advance salaries in the private sector ».

Kiraľvarga also points out that the number of public administration employees has increased by 100,000 over the past 15 years.

Also according to AZZZ should the state save on each other. It recommends that the government merge or cancel up to four ministries, although it does not specify which. However, the state would save most if it canceled 13. The pensions for which the Social Insurance Agency will spend EUR 900 million this year, for example.
