Comic authors and authors from Serbia at the exhibition « Island of Love » in Beijing – Culture
On Saturday, March 29, in the Cultural Center of Serbia, « Ivo Andrić » in Beijing will be an international exhibition of comics and illustration « Island of love », within which will be exposed to works 42 authors and illustrators from Serbia and the entire world.
This exhibition is inspired by life, and the work of Nadežde Petrović, Serbian painters and activists, and the name of the exhibition is also the name of one of the famous Nadevda’s paintings (oil on canvas, 1907-8. Year).
Comics, Jelena Djordjevic-Maksimović and Ilija Jakovljević will be present at the opening. The program was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia.
The exhibition « The Island of Love » was first presented at the new festival in Pancevo 2023. year, on 150. Anniversary of Nadežde Petrović, painters and illustrators whose works are the first modern achievements in Serbian art at the beginning of the twentieth century.
Nadezhda was in many ways avant-garde, while it was not socially acceptable to do the acts, she boldly made them painting even lustful love hugs.
Whether she worked impressionist or expressionistically, inevitably in their acts in the elements of symbolism, which applied in the image of the island of love, provide various ideas responded to the authors to answer the theme of a short comic or illustration.
SELLATOR FOUNDS Board (Jana Adamović, Saša Rakezić Alias Aleksandar Zograf, Monika Husar) made a choice of 42 stylish and generational different authors. Although many arranged works carry the title of the island of love, various interpretations and ideas are shown.

Within the comic exhibition, the island of love are presented by the works of the following authors, Ana Petrović, Anya Gladysheva, Jelena Djordjevic, Léopold Prudon, Maja Bušić, Maja Veselinović, Nejra Turčinović, Remy Ramsés Hernández Lois, Tihomir Čelanović, Uroš Maksimović, Miguel Ángel Valdivia, Eva Marinaccio, Harukichi, Yvan Guiller, Bojana Stojanović, Mirjana Mišlov and Thierry Guitard, Igor Kordej, Irina Bolšakova, Nađa Tiodorović, Tanja Vukobrat, Filip Karan, Marko Sherer, El Jakk, Alizée De Pin, Dobrosav Bob, Alexandra Goldillo, Larisa Ackov, Dragana Radanovic, Ivana Filipovic, Nevena Markovic, Frances Lewtas and Tribe20 or Tribef.
The exhibition will be open until 25. April 2025. years.
