Comedy for the diseases of modern society brought to « Thunder and Tresh » the Golden Kukerikon Award
The creative team of the performance « PDNO – Public Organization for the Department of Society », according to the sketches of Hanoch Levin, was awarded in the category « Young Hope » at this year’s « Golden Kukerikon » awards, which the Satirical Theater awarded for its contribution to the development of the art of the comedy. This is the first acknowledgment of the production house behind the project – « Thunder and Tresh ».
It was created in 2023, when the first production it produces was Dakota by Jordi Galseran. The engine of « Thunder and St. » is Maya Tinkova, which viewers can also watch in one of the roles in « P.R.O. » As early as April 21 or June 7, on the stage of « Théatro from here, » when they were their next performance. On stage, she partnered with actors Vasilena Kaneva, Boyan Petrov and Yordan Varbanov under the direction of Veselin Petrov. The translation is the work of Joseph Benatov, the composer is Martin Karov, and the set design and costumes are by Irena Doicheva.
A year after its premiere, the production has an updated vision and now the audience can look at it on a larger and cozy scene. A production that makes it laugh, but also provokes to the very end, noted by Thunder and Tray.
« P.R.NO » In fact, it presents a series of fun skits that ridicule the diseases of modern society – the lack of empathy, the expertise, the thirst for revenge, the desire for power, the hypochondria, the influence of the media on public opinion and even the fear of death.
« The characters want to be loved, to fall in love, to live well, but at the same time they are endlessly insolent and unpardonable in their attempts to achieve these desires and never look at themselves, » the actor Boyan Petrov told the EuroNuz, but they are at the same time strongly overexposed.
« I think that Hanoch Levin is an author who perceives the brutality in life. She accepts her as she is, and shows her in an even more brutal way to make some balance. Revision of where we are going, where we are right now, and where we want to get there, » said the BNR on BNR. Again, Maya Tinkova adds that she was inspired by these texts by Hanoch Levin in the performance « The old woman of Calcutta », which has not been played for a long time, and she wanted in some form « to continue her life ». This is how « P.R.O. – Public Organization for the Department of Society » was born.
After the Golden Kukerikon Award, the Production House is preparing three new projects for next season – two theater, as well as one video project. As early as September 2025, « Thunder and Tresh » will start the first season of a comedy series, fictional, directed and filmed by Tsvetoslav Tsonev-Tsuro, which will be spread freely on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. By the end of the year, the premiere of a new comedy performance with director Vladislav Stoimenov is planned, and in March 2026 there will be another premiere under the direction of Anton Ugrinov.
