Column | Army command – NRC
From our soldiers and former soldiers on television, I never feel like switching to Defense, while that, I think, is the intention of their public performances. They need people, and too quickly. Are there really people who want to be scolded for a basic salary by types like Erik Wegwijs, who we know from Special Forces VIPS?
And then the management.
Han Bouwmeester dries everywhere. He is apparently the highest in rank, or the most mediagenic. Fresh and reliable. What is Han Bouwmeester anyway? « Brigadier general prof. Dr. », as he recently at NPO Radio 1 and Café Kockelmann was announced? Or ‘colonel’, as they are on the podcast Europe turns on to call. Or is that the same? And why does he have no uniform one time and the other? Can he know that for himself? Just like with forester Arjan Postma who, because of his brand, chooses to always appear in Beige Blouse and with scouts. Bee WNL on Sunday At the end of last year, Han was in uniform to tell a point of view for a map that the Russians do not have a good reputation when crossing rivers. Do we do that better? When did we last crossed a river? Has Han Bouwmeester ever crossed a river with a brigade?
Why do these people know everything?
General Buiten Dienst Mart de Kruif can sit down everywhere to talk about right and wrong. The sense of justice drips out. Low point: the time he said that Feyenoord could call if they needed anyone for the team building. I hope he never makes the same offer to Vitesse. Because they certainly call. And we are already without a chance in the lowest division of professional football. I think Mart de Kruif is a nice guy, we are from the same area, but I would walk the other way in wartime. He once confessed to me prior to a talk show that he had a long time of the babysitter’s sister, so it could have just turned out wrong with me, but at the same time he was struck by the burden of always doing ‘the good’.
Together with former commander of the armed forces Peter van Uhm, Mart is also in the theaters where they tell their audience that violence is really the very last option.
Our military leaders more often address groups of citizens and students than soldiers, because they are not (yet) there.
