Collaboration as a basis for success
Northern Norway has tremendous potential for growth and development. Our region has rich natural resources, an innovative business and unique opportunities in fishing, energy, tourism and technology. Nevertheless, we see a challenge in attracting and retaining labor, especially young people with high education.
Collaboration is the key
An important key to success lies in collaboration between good forces – the business community, the public, educational institutions and communities. Together, we can create strong professional environments, develop attractive career opportunities and ensure good living conditions that make it tempting to settle in the region.
9 out of 10 believe the Arctic Race of Norway makes Northern Norway more attractive
In 2024, as many as 87 % of the spectators stated that the Arctic Race of Norway makes Northern Norway more attractive as a place to live or visit. Throughout the population, 69 percent know the bike ride, and three out of ten say it inspires them to cycle more. The event also helps to build pride and unity in the local communities involved.
A joint project for the whole of Northern Norway
This is one of the things that appear in an audience survey conducted by Sponsor Insight during the event in August last year. The findings in the survey show what we can achieve when we work together in the north. Collaboration has been crucial to building an event that the audience perceives as exciting, engaging and inspiring.
Everyone contributes with their
The county municipalities have been a crucial supporter from day one. The host municipalities play a key role by providing access to roads, facilitating the right areas at start and finish, and recruiting volunteers as trail guards. The business community contributes everything from funding, sponsorship of local events, and facilitates what is needed by service offerings. The inhabitants’ enthusiasm and participation, either as volunteers or as the audience along the trail, create the unique mood Arctic Race of Norway is known for.
The power in collaboration
This joint effort produces results that last long after the cyclists have passed the finish line. The ripple effects show that the Arctic Race of Norway has created economic effects for almost NOK 1 billion in Northern Norway since its inception in 2013. In addition, we can add the value of the global TV exposure that sums up to around NOK 2 billion. This shows what we can achieve when we gather forces.
All of Northern Norway is with
Since the whole of Northern Norway stands together on the event, it is also important for the whole of Northern Norway to take part in the positive effects. So far, the Arctic Race of Norway has been in over 50 municipalities in Northern Norway. In 2025, we include three new municipalities as host municipalities for start and finish. Kvæfjord, Lavangen and Sørreisa. We look forward to seeing what they can do around the ride. In addition, we will return to Harstad, Senja, Målselv and Tromsø, all of whom have given the audience epic experiences in the past.
Magnet for talent
With the right efforts and joint efforts, Northern Norway can become a magnet for talent and create even stronger communities. We have a lot to offer, so now it’s all about making it even more visible and accessible to those who can and will help shape the future here.
