Coalition consultation on asylum policy and the requirements of the PVV started: ‘Suppose your goal is to make things blapped, just say that’

Is it really serious this time? On Monday evening at 6 p.m. the group chairmen gathered for a consultation that has only recently been on the agenda. During the interview, the leaders of the NSC, BBB and the VVD will discuss the requirements of the PVV for a sharpening of the asylum policy.

« If nothing or insufficient changes, the PVV is gone, » Geert Wilders warned a week ago. The PVV leader set a limit at the self-announced press conference; He also immediately published a document with ten requirements for a stricter asylum and migration policy.

The requirements – which could often also be found in the party’s election program – include the closing of borders with Germany and Belgium and temporarily stopping family reunification. The PVV also wants the government to immediately stop the addition of AZCs, and to close a number of reception locations.

Unnecessary

For VVD leader Dilan Yesilgöz, an emergency consultation was not needed, she says on Monday on arrival at the Wilders office, where the conversation takes place. « We already do a number (of the points), we could have done a few if Faber had made more speed. Politics does not block you. Suppose your goal is to get things blapped, then just say that. »

Caroline van der Plas also calls the consultation ‘unnecessary’ and out of her displeasure about the threat of the PVV leader to leave the coalition: « The Netherlands does not like runners, » said the BBB leader.

The brand new NSC party leader Nicolien van Vroonhoven says he does not know what to expect from the conversation, but says « to see » these kinds of scenes earlier. It’s no surprise, we now know how to respond « .

Gloves

According to Wilders, the document is « not a dictation, but also not without obligation. » As far as he is concerned, the PVV « had been very reasonable and patient in the past year, » but now « out of the gloves. »

It is not yet clear how the VVD, NSC and BBB relate to the views. Although these parties also face a stricter asylum policy, international treaties must be broken open for some points.

In the first instance, the leaders reacted somewhat laconically to the threat of the PVV leader. Among other things, they pointed out that his party with Marjolein Faber himself delivered the responsible minister.

Not the first time

Moreover, it is not the first time that the PVV threatens with a cabinet trap to implement its asylum policy. In February, Wilders also said he would leave the coalition if Minister Faber’s draft asylum laws were to be adjusted. Wilders eventually withdrew the threat.

Nevertheless, the mood with the leaders of the other coalition parties when Wilders proclaimed a legal radical congress in Budapest on Friday: « My party wants more and we want it now! » On Sunday he repeated in a number of messages on X that if the majority of the requirements are not assumed, the PVV leaves the coalition.
