The long -awaited report on the introduction of cars imported to the US has acquired clear contours on Thursday evening. Donald Trump announced that from April 3, a 25 % duty will pay for all cars that will come to the United States from other countries. And no later than 3 May, there will also be duties for automobile components.

US President He promises huge income from the goal, through which America will take everything that other countries owe over the years of export imbalance. Trump is worth $ 100 billion a year and « maybe » even trillion dollars in the coming years.

What will that mean?

Last year, cars from abroad were imported to the US, totaling $ 214 billion, especially from Japan, South Korea and the European Union. First of all, Trump will unleash another wave of retaliatory goal with these countries.

In addition, if we look at the idea of ​​burdening the duty and the automotive components themselves, due to the global interconnection of the entire automotive industry, they will make them clearance from one country to another that some car models will be more expensive by thousands of dollars. According to Bernstein analysts, chaos in supplier chains can be expected in a short time, reducing production and redundancies.

What Slovakia?

The fact that Trump could also be introduced against the European Union has raised the appropriate concerns in Slovakia for several months. Last year, companies exported goods for 107 billion euros, of which 4.11 billion went to the US.

Up to 87 percent of our exports to the United States are cars. Their value was EUR 3.6 billion last year. No other European country is dependent on cars to the US as Slovakia. Just for the idea of ​​exporting cars to the US is 2.5 percent of our GDP, while the EU average is about 0.3 percent.

What will be the reaction from the government is still questionable. Minister of Economy Denisa Sakova Meanwhile, it has only responded by claiming that Slovakia would wait for the parcel of retaliatory measures by the European Union. According to her, she will also see how car makers respond to duties and whether they do not switch to models that are not so exported to America.

Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenický wants to approve the state budget for 2026 until 21 November, In order to avoid the obligation to submit a balanced budget. Kamenický stated this at Wednesday’s meeting with journalists. He explained that there were already several meetings at the Ministry of Finance, which concerned consolidation next year.

From April, the new Building Act will come into effect. For ordinary people, it brings several simplifications in construction, whether their own house or small buildings. The biggest innovations are the cancellation of the current two -component decision -making when it was necessary to get a zoning decision first and then the building permit. After the new one, only one procedure is introduced, namely the proceedings on the construction intention by which the building authority expresses his consent to the proposed construction activity. Governor of the National Bank of Slovakia Peter Kažimír expressed concerns about current economic development, He stressed that the original expectations must be corrected for increasing uncertainty. The main cause is, according to the National Bank, a jump increase in uncertainty in the world and at home, which dampens the economy and causes manufacturers to lose their positions over the years. Kažimír stressed the need to restore competitiveness through investments in innovation and education.

This year, despite criticism of experts, the government has again introduced energy subsidies. Thus, no household felt a real rise in energy commodity prices, but the state cost almost 400 million euros.

According to analysts, the most ideal would be that the government does not burden the budget further by covering market fluctuations and by postponing the need for realization of household prices.
