« The raging look in his eyes continues to haunt my head. » Axelle Somers (31) still bears the consequences after she was thrown into a glass chocolateot in the face during cleaning works in an Oostkamp’s company. Perpetrator JV (34) said he was frustrated because the young woman asked him about his private life. « I saw that he was not doing well, » she testified in the Bruges court. JV risks a year in prison.
Axelle Somers was cleaning in an Oostkamp’s company on March 29 last year. She saw the defendant JV (34) while he was eating chocolate sandwiches at a table. The Oostkampenaar looked some printed and Axelle decided to ask him what was wrong. She gave him a friendly pat on the back, but that clearly did not go well with JV, who threw his glass jar with chocolate hard into her face.
The consequences for the Oostkampse brushwoman were not less. « My jawbone broke in half and four teeth stood inside, » she testified in the Bruges criminal court on Tuesday. « My teeth were straightened back in the hospital and the gums were sewn. One of my teeth I lost and was replaced by a prosthesis. The three other teeth are still in my mouth but his death. I have been tucked in and understood for half a year. »

Attorney Fauve Nowé asked a year in prison for deliberate success and injuries. « His reaction was totally excessive, » she fulminated. The defendant came to answer without a lawyer. He admitted that his reaction was not normal and expressed his regret. « I was lunch and was a bit frustrated about the big work pressure, » he said. « She started to hear me about my private life and I had asked her several times to leave me alone. But she just kept going. »

The victim is still deeply impressed by what happened to her. « I am a concerned person and just wanted to help him when I saw that he was not doing well, » she said sighing. « After all, we had known each other for a while and we actually agreed well. But the next moment he threw that glass jar with full anger in my direction. The raging look in his eyes stays through my head. I couldn’t sleep through it for a long time. »
Axelle’s lawyer asked a provisional compensation of 1,000 euros and the appointment of an expert. « My client sustained permanent injuries, » said Master Shannon Lescrauwaet. « That implant will have to be replaced every ten to fifteen years. To silence the psychological damage. »
The court ruled on 24 June.
