Cladag Rogers was born in Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland and began singing professionally from the age of thirteen with the famous singer, Michael Holidey.
Her father was Dancehall organizer and helped her sign her first record label before making her 1962 television debut on Adam Feth’s television show on the BBC. He then became a regular face on television and appeared in the music films Just for Fun in 1963 and it’s all over town a year later.
But it was Eurovision that launched her in a superstar when the competition was held in Dublin, but as a Irish Catholic from Northern Ireland, IRA was threatened by the IRA death, with the UK representing the United Kingdom.
The catchy melody took fourth place behind the winner Monaco, as well as Spain and Germany and reached the number four of the UK Singles Chart, making its third top 10 success.
After her separation from her marriage, Cladag retired from the music to raise her sons, returning to the spotlight years later as an actress and appeared in a West End musical and The Bill on ITV.
