Classmates Surprise Sick Milly (10) with Song of Idool: « You are never alone » (Kasterlee)
The students from the fourth grade of Free Primary School De Omnibus from Tielen (Kasterlee) put their classmate Milly Hermans (10) out of Lichtaart on Friday. Milly is currently suffering from acute leukemia. Her fellow students surprised her with a song from her favorite singer Metejoor.
Milly Hermans’ chair in the fourth grade of the Omnibus in Tielen has been empty since the end of last year. At the end of November 2024, Milly got the crushing diagnosis that she has acute leukemia. The daughter of Mathias Hermans (30) and Jessica Neel (30) is currently following a chemotherapy and has to spend a lot of time in the UZ in Leuven. But Milly does follow occasionally via Bednet Les and also goes to the hospital school.

The Omnibus did not get caught up and organizes an action every month to financially support the parents. Friday, a day after the tenth birthday of the brave Milly, the students of the fourth grade of the Omnibus from Tielen came to visit her at the Tielensteenweg in Lichtaart. After months of absence, it was a warm reunion. Outside the students brought their own version together with the teachers Liesbeth, Jolien and Lien This is what my mum said Van Metejoor, one of Milly’s favorite singers. “ »Dear Milly, you will be 10 today. Enjoy it, it’s only once a year. Party on it. You have known for a long time. You are never alone. This is what the fourth says« Was the chorus.

Gifts
Milly visibly enjoyed the heart -warming song and also received a box with gifts and cards from all primary school students. She received a T-shirt from her classmates with a panda and all the names of the students. « We also gave Milly a QR code with a link to the song that we recorded especially for her, » says Miss Liesbeth Verhoeven. « Since January, the school has been organizing a promotion every month to support the family financially. Those actions have already raised at least 1,500 euros. »
After the sale of hot dogs, vegetable jars, soup and tattoos, lucky bracelets and ice creams are still offered to support Milly.
Chemotherapy
Milly’s grandmother has also started an online rowdfunding. « Milly’s blood values are good for the time being, » says her father Mathias Hermans. « On Tuesday she has to go to the hospital in Leuven for a new chemotherapy. She has to stay in the hospital for three weeks. Then one last chemotherapy will follow. »
60 to 80 percent of children with acute leukemia heal. Her parents, relatives, friends and classmates are all featured for a happy ending.
