Chuddar / Day is directed to the position of Minister of Smart Administration and Regional Development

The Prime Minister also points out that Chudar has experience in municipal work as a longtime Mayor of Salaspils. He has worked as a minister and as a deputy, and is well aware of the VARAM areas.
Silina with Chudar has agreed on priorities – the development of digital and artificial intelligence, evaluation of the electoral process and preparation for the Saeima elections, the strengthening of the Eastern border and the development of the regions.
Harry Rockpelnis, leader of the Saeima faction of the Greens and Farmers Union (ZZS), told LETA that Chudar’s candidacy was positive. He noted that it is not known at the moment whether the members of the ZZS Saeima faction are planning a separate meeting with Chudar.
Andris Šuvajevs, leader of the « Progressive » Saeima faction, told LETA that « Progressive » was evaluating Chudar positively.
Šuvajevs emphasized that environmental policies will always be important to the « Progressive » Ministry of Administration and Regional Development and expects it from Chudara – clear and strong principles in the protection of the environment, promoting the preservation of nature values, the biological diversity and the achievement of climate goals.
« For the time being, we are not planning a separate meeting with him before the upcoming vote, » Suvayev added.
Edmunds Jurēvics, leader of the « New Unity » (JV) Saeima faction, told LETA that Chudar had significant experience in municipal work – he has long run Salaspils municipality.
He also acted in parliament as the leader of the commission and is the deputy leader of the faction. This experience, according to Jurēvica, is essential for Chudar to successfully fulfill his ministerial duties.
He also pointed out that Chudar’s education in the lawyer’s specialty would be particularly useful in the light of current law issues.
Jurēvics also focused on the new law on the need for local government leaders, and in this context, Chudarua’s legal knowledge would be particularly important. He stressed that if there were problems on this issue, the minister would have to be able to act decisively and responsibly.
Edgars Tavars, leader of the Saeima faction of the Joint List (AS), told LETA that the Group on Chudar’s candidacy on Monday will be held.
Linda Liepiņa, the head of the Saeima faction of « Latvia in the first place » (LPV), also said that the LPV would still discuss Chudar’s candidacy in the faction, but « will certainly not support it ». As Liepiņa stated, « chairs are given again to the person who is in the particular party ». « I do not agree with this direction as such, you have to look for professionals who know the industry, » the deputy said.
As LETA informed JV, Chudar’s candidacy will be promoted to the Saeima for approval this Thursday, June 19, in the Saeima sitting.
According to information in the LETA archive, Chudar was born in 1974. He received a lawyer from the University of Latvia in 1996. From 2002 to 2009 was a practicing lawyer.
In 2001, Chudar was elected to the Salaspils City Council from the list of Latvian Farmers’ Union, elected in Salaspils City Council from the list of « New Era » in 2005.
In 2009, Chudar was elected to the Salaspils County Council from the « New Era » party and the common list of « Fatherland and Freedom » and was elected chairman of the county council.
In the Salaspils City Council, Chudar was also re -elected from the list of « Unity » in 2013, 2017 and 2021, while the chairman of the City Council was held from 2009 to 2022.
In December 2022, the Saeima approved the second government led by Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš (JV), in which Chudar was the Minister for Climate and Energy.
LETA has already announced that the Minister of Wisdom and Regional Development, Inga Berzina (JV), resigned when taking political responsibility for the problems in the municipal elections.
