Researchers have found that chronic stress increases the risk of stroke in women by 78%. At the same time, researchers did not find such a connection in men.

This is stated in the report of researchers in the journal Neurology, reports Medicalxpress.

The study was attended by 426 people aged 18 to 49 who survived a stroke. Their data compared the data of 426 healthy people.

Participants were surveyed about the level of stress. Patients with stroke were asked to remember whether they were stress a month before the stroke.

According to the study, stroke patients experienced at least moderate stress: 46% of the study participants said. Only 33% of those polled were stated among people who had no stroke.

It also turned out that chronic stress is associated with an increase in the risk of stroke in women by 78%. Men did not find such correlation.

One of the potential explanations for the higher state of stress in women may be related to social and psychological factors.

Women often report that they experience chronic stress through juggling with several roles such as work and family« , – the researchers suggested.

Another assumption is due to the fact that men often underestimate stress and ignore it. Researchers recognize that this factor could influence the results of the study.

In addition, we need to further examine why the risk of stroke in women was higher in moderate stress than in severe stress.

A broader knowledge of the role of stress can help us create the best ways to prevent strokes« , – scientists say.

Recall that stroke ranks second in the list of main causes of disability and death in the world and in Ukraine. Earlier we toldhow to diagnose it quickly.
