Christina got the P-fine without leaving the driver’s seat: « It’s totally unacceptable »

On a dark November night, Christina parked in an almost empty parking lot at the dam in Vejle.

She was sitting in the car while her husband quickly picked up takeaway.

After just six minutes, they drove on and she noticed nothing unusual.

This is how it writes TV 2.

But three months later, a parking fee of 875 kroner dumped in the door. And shortly afterwards came one more.

« If I had received the fine 14 days later, I would never have done it again. But now they have been able to make a lot more money on me, » says a frustrated Christina.

Invisible time limit and failure to alert

The problem, Christina believes, is not only the fine in itself – but the whole way it is given.

No signs in the parking lot indicated how long you had to last before it triggered a charge. And no note came in the windshield either.

Instead, her license plate was registered by an automatic scanner, and the parking fine only came several months later by mail.

She can now look at her bank statements that she has picked up takeaway from the same place several times, and fears that even more fines are on the way.

Christina’s case is not unique. The Minister of Transport has repeatedly criticized this practice and emphasized that it is illegal to charge P-charges without clear signage and timely notification.

Still, that kind of control continues in many places, and several motorists end up in the same situation.

Christina therefore wants to warn others against what she calls a « money machine. »

« To trigger an automatic fine of DKK 875 without it being on any signs in here, it is completely unacceptable, » says Christina.

She now hopes that her case can focus on the need for better signage, fair rules and immediate notification so that fines are not stored away and only triggered when it is too late to correct the error.
