Christ has resurrected!
With the fiery faces in their hands, the priests shout « Come to take light! » The bells begin to beat, and the believers give each other light. From the Easter night we greet ourselves with « Christ has resurrected! » And we answer with « True he resurrected! »
But the first to bring the news of the Resurrection of the Lord was the angel of the Lord who showed at the grave to the scent women and announced their resurrection through women, the apostles and the whole posterity.
« Do not be frightened! Jesus Nazarinean, the crucified, has risen! He is not here, here is the place where he was put. » (Mark 16: 6).
But not only the posterity enjoyed the fruit of the Resurrection of the Lord, but all the righteous of the Old Testament who died before the Savior’s incarnation, who fell asleep in the hope of an redeeming. For the Savior of Christ, after burial, descended to hell and disrobed the souls of the righteous, bringing the light of the resurrection and opening heaven with the repentant robber, the right of the Savior on the Cross, who with a few words of repentance acquired Heaven.
On the day of the Resurrection, the Savior entered through the locked doors in the midst of His disciples and said « Peace! Dare, do not be afraid » (Matthew 14:27)! And « peace! Dare, I overcome the world » (John 16:33)!
The Resurrection of the Lord is a decisive moment, which has definitely changed the course of human history. From this moment we are not only talking about the history of mankind, but about the history of the salvation of the human race.
Through His resurrection from the dead, the Savior perfected His work of redemption of man, restoring the human nature, completing it and raising it to the highest degree of sanctity. His body, transfigured and full of light, represents the state of grace attended by Protoons Adam and Eve in full communion with God-the Creator. Through the sin of their disobedience, the unifying and communion connection of man with God was broken, the man becoming bodily and subjected to death.
Christ, through His resurrection from the dead, brought man with nature to the first state, before the fall into sin. He brought us back to us in communion with God. Through his resurrection from the dead he discovered to the whole humanity the perspective of the resurrection. (Parish priest Adrian Chiriţă)
Through His resurrection, the Lord overcame the two of the most fierce enemies of human life and honesty: death and sin. (St. Nicholas Velimirovici « Sermon on the Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord »)
