Oldest son Jesse Gemstone, youngest son Kelvin Gemstone (Adam Devine) and sister Judy Gemstone (Edi Patterson) are the faces of the Christ money machine. They are terribly childish, but not to hate, partly because they were formed by a traumatic childhood.

The cult series of and with Danny McBride, who also plays Jesse Gemstone, is a satire about how a religious power can become corrupt. The unthinkable, literally filthy actions of the families cause profound discomfort and disgust.

McBride is also the creator of the cult series Eatsbound & Down (2009) and Vice Principals (2016), In which he has the main roles – also from the HBO platform.
