Choir songs performed by sincerity and warmth
In the minds of enthusiasts about choir songs, the Reykjavik Men’s Choir is undoubtedly one spring message here at the northernmost ocean. The spring concert will be held on April 23, 24 and April 26 in Langholt Church and the tightening teams of the choir are now ranks.
« It can be said that it is the annual harvest festival of the Reykjavík Karla Choir to sing in the spring in Langholt Church as we have done many times before. There we finish our singing and carry on all the work we have done this winter, » says Bóas Valdórsson, 1.
There are about 70 singers in the Reykjavík Men’s Choir. They are of all ages, according to Boas, with different backgrounds and come from all over the country. The choirmaster is, as before, Hólmarinn Friðrik S. Kristinsson, who has directed the choir since 1989.
« We are fully looking forward to singing a mixed program. New songs mixed with the well -known » standard « that we have been on board before. Beautiful and heartfelt choral songs performed sincerity and warmth. At the concert we lift ourselves up and choir members sing alone with the choir. Sometimes we have had a well -known solo with us at a concert, but this year we lift our own singers, but we have many good at all ages. Of course, we welcome everyone interested in beautiful singing. «
A century -up anniversary of next year
Boas says the acoustics are good in Langholt Church and this is one of the reasons why the church has been chosen as the choir’s concert venue.
« We have long held the concert in Langholt Church, but it has been a little variable, especially around the pandemic. Next year will be remarkable in the history of the choir.
« We are gearing up to hold a big birthday next year when the Reykjavík Men’s Choir turns 100 years old. We think this is a remarkable turning point.

In a changed world with a variety of entertainment, however, male choir work continues to live a good life in Iceland, as the examples prove. Boas points out that recruitment is not a problem in the choir.
« We are so lucky that many young men go on singing every year. Our recruitment is considerable, and regular, which is hugely important for choir in this quality category. a week at least.
« Since January we have been practicing once or twice a week, but we also attend private tutors in singing. People practice at home after playing online and learning the lyrics. Hell’s work.
