China warns that US is playing with the fire compared to Taiwan
China warned on Sunday that the US today the US to « not play with fire » compared to Taiwan after the US defender accused Beijing of preparing the invasion of the island.
« Taiwan’s issue is purely internal to China. No foreign country has the right to interfere, » the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement, quoted by the Spanish news agency Efe.
Beijing manifested the “firm opposition” and “deep dissatisfaction” in the face of what he considered to be a speech “full of provocations and incitement” by Pete Hegseth on Saturday during the Shangri-La Dialogue Defense Forum, which ends this Sunday in Singapore.
Hegseth warned that the Chinese military “rehearsed daily” a possible invasion of Taiwan and alluded to an alleged intention to do so before 2027. “Let me be clear: any attempt by the Communist Party (Chinese) to conquer Taiwan by force will have devastating consequences for Indo-Picific and the world. (…) The threat of China is real.”
Although in recent years the Chinese Defense Minister participated in the Shangri-La dialogue, where he should give this Sunday a speech in which he could respond to Hegseth, Beijing decided not to send Dong Jun this year without explanation.
In the statement, the Ministry warned the US that « they should have no illusions regarding the use of the Taiwan issue as a bargaining china » and also announced that he had a formal protest to Washington.
