Child’s desperate message on post-it banknote led to arrest

A 25-year-old Miami woman, Florida, has been accused of gross child abuse, after a nine-year-old boy sent a desperate emergency cry via a pink post-it note.

Katrina Carrillo was arrested on Wednesday by Miami police after the authorities were alerted by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF).

It writes Unilad.

The boy, who, along with his brother, stayed in Carrillo’s home, had written « Be sweet to help us » on a small note found in March and handed over to DCF.

Authorities immediately contacted the police, which led to Carrillo’s arrest on Wednesday, April 23 around 4.30pm local time.

It was during the subsequent questioning of the boy that the horrible charges emerged. Here, among other things, it emerged that Carrillo had repeatedly beaten the boy, held him to the ground and tried to strangle him with a blanket and a pillow. He described the experience as so violent that he « felt he couldn’t breathe ».

Carrillo, who pleads guilty to the charges, was charged with child abuse after the arrest. She was released that night against a $ 5,000 bail and transferred to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center near Miami International Airport.

At a hearing the following day, Carrillo was ordered to stay away from his girlfriend’s children.

Both the nine -year -old boy and his brother have since been removed from home and are now in the custody of the authorities.

It is still unclear where the banknote was found exactly and who first sounded an alarm.
