Checking instead of nodules: How to survive without a parking disc

The first time I noticed the absence of my parking meter in Switzerland. In the middle of Appenzell’s village center I found a dream parking. I didn’t even have to pay. The only catch: the parking disc had to go into the window. No problem – I thought. Until I started to search the entire car for the small white parking disc. I gave up resigned. As every time, I was amazed and shocked how much disorder you can leave in such a small smooch as my car.

Since nothing else was left, I had to be creative. Because the salary may not be enough for a nodule from Switzerland. So I carefully painted a parking meter on the back of a magazine and circled the arrival time. And lo and behold: when I came back, no white note fluttered under my windshield wipers.

Perhaps so far the peakers have made mercy.

After the camping vacation, there was still no trace of the parking disc. Instead of trying to replace it, I unpacked a sheet of paper and a pen every time – more than six months after the vacation. So far, this tactic has worked excellently. Or so far I was just lucky. Perhaps the pechert smiled over my hand -drawn parking disc and kept mercy. Or they were simply too perplexed to decide whether they should let this go through as an official marking.

Read too:

It’s not that I haven’t tried it. I have decided several times to organize a new parking disc. But as soon as I got out of the car, she was forgotten again. But since last week I have been the proud owner of a parking disc – my father has mercy and gave me one.

From the life of the LW journalists

The “gazettchen” is an informal column in which the authors legally tell about their everyday experiences or even give an insight into their thoughts. This has a long tradition: On December 3, 1946, an opinion with the title « Today » appears for the first time at the top of the side left on the first local side in the « Luxemburger Word ». On January 13, 1971, the « Gazettchen », which has been extremely popular with readers, then became the « gazette », which has kept its Premium-Platz in Luxembourg’s top-class daily newspaper to this day and across all layout.
