Chase up the last capelin
Bardi NK, the Síldarvinnslan pelagic ship, and the Greenlandic ship Polar Amaroq have been on the north of the country to look for the last few capelin that the ships can catch this winter.
Bardi is now out of Tröllaskagi and heading east, but Polar Amaroq took one spin in Skagafjörður and is now heading out of the fjord.
It has attracted some attention that the ships were, in what appeared on the maps, throws on the tickets north of the Gulf. Gunnþór Ingvason, CEO of Síldarvinnslan, informs that Bardi has been seeking the last 200 tonnes to complete the capelin quota, as well as Polar Amaroq has been trying to try for the 500 tonnes of capelin for which the ship has authorized.

According to the registration of the Directorate of Fisheries, the Icelandic vessels have landed 4,373 tonnes of capelin, but received 4,682 tonnes of capelin quota. So there is not much that stands out.
In addition, Greenlanders received 18% of 8,589 tonnes of capelin quota for the year in accordance with the fishing agreements of Iceland and Greenland (1,546 tonnes), as well as Greenlanders received fishing permits for the excess fishing debt of Icelanders from the 2022/2023 season. So far this winter, Greenlandic vessels have landed 2,246 tonnes of capelin.
