Chaos on FBI: Using lie detectors to silence employees
Before the current FBI chief, Trump-set Kash Patel, he took over, he made clear what he had for intentions with the authority: drastic measures would be implemented. He also suggested that it could mean that high -ranking managers would be forced to go.
In February, sources stated for the Washington Post that the Trump administration had initiated a process to map FBI agents who investigated the president and his supporters, and then be able to kick them. Now, around a dozen sources with transparency for the New York Times, this has become a reality. Together with other measures, this has led to a chaotic atmosphere at the authority.
According to the sources FBI employees have been relocated or dismissed without explanation-often it has come as retaliation because they have gone against the management’s line. Most high -ranking managers have been put on pause with salary, including two of the officials who handled the case with Hunter Bidens Laptop. After the investigation, a group of 50 high intelligence officials wrote that the case carried « characteristics of a Russian disinformation campaign ».
The sources also testify if most top agents, all women, have been given the ultimatum to take another assignment or retire. In order to replace those who have been relocated or dismissed, it has happened that Patel has appointed inexperienced assistants in managerial positions.
It emerges Also, that lie detector tests have begun to be used to a much greater extent than normal to scare employees into silence. According to the sources, the management forces agents and employees to be tested with the detectors, among other things to discourage discussing Patel’s decision within the authority – but also to prevent media leaks from occurring.
According to the sources, the changes can lead to the investigations involving Trump and his followers not being picked up. This includes, among other things, the investigation of the chat leak where a journalist was accidentally invited to a conversation about attack plans against Yemen in the Signal chat tool, with a number of US ministers and security advisers. The incident has led to massive criticism about how the Trump administration handles security -classified information and has been called a violation of the state’s security.
The FBI has not commented on the New York Times information.
