Cephalonia: Fire in House in Argostoli – In danger of infant

There was a great fire in Argostoli, in Kefalonia, which completely burned a residence.

The family members were in the building of the fire and ran great danger.

The fire broke out at a home where a family with children were staying and spread rapidly, causing the total destruction of the interior of the house and the households.

According to first reports, the mother was taken to Kefalonia General Hospital with respiratory problems due to tobacco inhalation, while other family members – among them elderly and children – are in good health.

The mobilization of the Kefalonia Fire Service was immediate and decisive. Three fire trucks and more than ten firefighters rushed to the spot.

According to neighbors, the incident was perceived by the dense smoke that covered the surrounding houses. The neighborhood was immediately mobilized. Two men attempted to enter the burning house from the main entrance, but were drowned by tobacco. They then tried to get out of the side, but then a small explosion was heard, probably a gas stove.

Damage at home is extensive. It is estimated that the interior has been completely destroyed, while the issue of the static roofing remains open. Residents of the area praise the immediacy of the intervention of the Fire Brigade, who prevented the spread of fire to neighboring homes.
