CDU VS PAN. Between ideological prejudices and bullfighting
General policy
The PCP secretary-general starts the debate with the PAN spokeswoman with criticism of the PS, however, refused the idea that the PS on the right, saying that only « presented facts ».
And it gives as an example that the socialists made the AD government budget possible and supported the investment in defense « to buy weapons. »
But Paulo Raimundo is not here. « The PS proposes 1100 euros minimum wage in 2029, the PSD proposes 1110, » he adds.
On the other hand, when confronted with the possibility of a new Gerigonça, the communist leader replies: « We never talked to solutions, but PS has to change the program. »
The word passes to the PAN spokeswoman, which refuses to put the party left or right, preferring to say that it is « aligned with the great concerns of the Portuguese. »
Confronted by the fact that there was greater support from PAN to government proposals, Inês Sousa Real stresses that “PAN has made its red lines clear” and excludes a “consensus with AD” to govern due to the declines of animal protection and “picking basses” to the great polluters.
Fiscal policy
The theme is now the fiscal policy, especially the IRC and the measures for young people and Paulo Raimundo considers that the fight against precariousness and the increase of wages is the way.
Regarding the exemption of IMT, with which the PCP does not agree, Paulo Raimundo stresses that « objectively, no measure allowed the descent of the price of houses » and that those who benefit from the increase is the bank, which has « 6.3 billion euros of profits », and argues that it is necessary to « require the bank to contribute to this benefit ».
For its part, Inês Sousa Real says that the transverse IRC descent that the PAN proposes is not inconsistent with the ecological program and that there are more factors to consider this tax relief. “We do not devastate companies,” he says, responding to the communist leader’s criticism of the party’s fiscal policy.
About the young IRS, the PAN MP proposes a bonus of credit to improve the government’s support of the purchase of housing by young people. “We have no ideological prejudice with young people who want to buy houses,” he says, in a kind of message to Raimundo.
Environmental Policy
The theme goes to environmental policy with Inês Sousa Real to defend the regulation of lithium exploitation in Portugal, to oblige and oversee the fulfillment of environmental values, giving examples of situations in which they are the populations that are denouncing the ongoing “environmental attack”.
The PAN spokeswoman takes the opportunity to remember that “EU came to alert to the delay of member states like Portugal to apply PRR funds to the green transition”.
Sousa Real also accuses the PCP of being “inconsistent” for not supporting PAN proposal on the airport. “They are said to be environmentalists when they vote against the airport’s environmental impact assessment proposal, which is an ecocide?” He asks.
Raimundo replies that “there is no one who is more advocating for natural resources” than the PCP and underlines the lack that greens make in parliamentary representation.
Bullfighting
The moods exalt when it comes to bullfighting, with a real Sousa criticizing the PCP for downloading the VAT of bullfighting, which considers it results in financing the state of that activity itself. The PAN spokeswoman even accuses the communists of a lack of “empathy and respect for animal suffering” and takes the opportunity to defend the realization of a national referendum.
In response, the PCP secretary general says that “there are things we cannot find by decree or forcibly” and devalues the issue. “We have so much to solve,” he says. « Do you really think our priority is this? »
And it gives an example the privatization of Ana, it is necessary to understand what happened, he argues, remembering that “20 billion in the next ten years” are concerned.
Appeal
Finally, Paulo Raimundo leaves an appeal to massive participation in the celebrations of April 25 ”.
Closing the debate, Inês Sousa Real bets on the theme of corruption, asking for “more transparency” to political office holders and noting that the country “loses another 34,000 euros for corruption every minute”, a background that “sucks money” to education, health and fighting violence.
