Cargolux is sustainable for Microsoft

In cooperation with Microsoft, Cargolux and the freight forwarder AIT Worldwide Logistics have signed the largest contract for sustainable fuel (SAF) in their history for transporting their server racks. Over a period of three years, this will lead to a saving of 66,000 tons of CO₂ by 2027, the Luxembourg Air Fachtellschaft announced on Tuesday.

The SAF is manufactured and delivered by Diamond Green Diesel. It is based on used food oil and sebum – without palm oil or derivatives. The biofuel is filled at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. Diamond Green Diesel is the largest manufacturer of renewable fuel in North America and the second largest in the world. According to its own information, the SAF, which is produced in the system in Texas, reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80 percent compared to conventional diesel fuel.
