Car ends up in water, but driver can stand out just in time (Diksmuide)

The accident happened around 1.30 am. At the emergency services, an emergency notification came in from a car that had ended up in the water in the Hazewindstraat in Nieuwkapelle. That is a rural job that is located near the well and with a Vaartje next to it. There are no trees or guardrails at that location.

It was not immediately clear whether there was someone else in the car. The fire brigade, police, an ambulance and MUG team rushed on the spot. Upon arrival it turned out that the driver could leave all his vehicle on his own. The findings showed that when crossing two vehicles, one of them, a car with French number plates, ended up in the grass side, after which the vehicle in the water.

The driver of the car could immediately jump out of his vehicle and did not end up in the water. The car itself was almost completely disappeared under water, only the roof was still visible. With the help of a few divers from the fire brigade, the car could be hoisted on the dry service by the hoisting service. The man was taken to the hospital as a precaution. (DME)
