Car crashes against forklift at Camping Graspop and burns out completely, driver to hospital (Dessel)
A woman crashed into the Geelsebaan in Dessel with her car against a forklift truck who was working at the Metalfestival Graspop. The car caught fire and then completely burned out. The motorist was taken to the hospital with injuries.
The accident happened on the access of The Crypt, one of the campsite sites in the spacious festival zone of Graspop Metal Meeting. The woman drove in the direction of Geel when she might have deviated from her lane in a bend and bumped into a forklift truck frontally. It was busy applying materials to the campsite.
« It was a dull blow. Fortunately, the Graspop employees were immediately there to offer help. They immediately opened the door of the car and removed the driver. This would otherwise have been much worse, » says Patrick and Renilde, a couple who just passed by at the time of the accident.
The car immediately caught fire, which spread rapidly over the vehicle. “The car has been completely destroyed, but also the Manitou (De Forklift, ed.) is badly damaged, « says Lieutenant Ben Wouters of the Kempen fire zone. » The victim was taken to the Geel hospital with injuries. » The driver of the forklift remained unharmed.
